School Counselors are often challenged with having the flexibility in their schedules to take advantage of professional development opportunities. School Closures due to COVID-19 have provided a challenge for school counselors to virtually design their school counseling programs to ensure that our students, parents and staff receive the support they need during this difficult time. CASC and WSCA have pulled together various professional development resources that we believe will be useful to school counselors during this difficult time.
Participants will learn virtual school counseling ASCA ethical guidelines, benefits and limitations, tech tools to utilize, suicide prevention, and strategies for self-care. They will gain access to a wealth of resources that include sample video conferencing and group norms, school counseling program messaging, check-in form, needs assessment, counseling referral, virtual lessons, websites, and professional development opportunities.
